7 GENIUSES
& THE LOSER

Fantasy Football’s Least Reliable Source of Journalism

THE AUTOPSY — Week 3

The undefeated machine keeps rolling, the Colonel opened fire, and BritishBullies once again proved that scoring points is not the same thing as winning football games.

Week 3 has concluded, and the league has entered the phase of the season where every manager insists the standings are misleading, the schedule is unfair, and the lineup decisions were made under conditions of extreme emotional distress. The League Office has reviewed the evidence. The standings are not misleading. The schedule is not unfair. Several lineup decisions, however, have been referred to federal authorities.

At the top, Smack my Fannin 🥵 remains undefeated at 3-0 after surviving the Turd Burglars, 154.74-138.74. The victory was not a demolition so much as another successful escape by a team that has apparently converted winning into a nervous habit. Meanwhile, Tony Romo’s Corona produced the week’s highest score, a roaring 179.22, and Kenbucky Fried Chicken detonated for 155.88 in a 50.46-point execution of BritishBullies.

At the other end of the courthouse, Brockback Mountain finally collected its first victory, Legal Beagels suffered another case of suspicious bench depth, and BritishBullies once again set a respectable number on the scoreboard only to discover that the scoreboard does not award moral victories. Week 3 was not a week of subtlety. It was a week of explosions, evidence bags, and one manager staring at a bench full of points like a man who had just misplaced the winning lottery ticket in a wood chipper.

THE CASE FILES

Case No. 1: Smack my Fannin 🥵 vs. Turd Burglars

Smack my Fannin 🥵 154.74, Turd Burglars 138.74.

The undefeated reign continues, though the reign once again required a little courtroom drama. Smack my Fannin 🥵 improved to 3-0 by beating Turd Burglars by 16 points, maintaining the league’s only perfect record and the increasingly irritating aura of a team that always seems to have just enough.

The champion’s weekly crime spree was led by a collection of useful contributors rather than one single volcanic performance. Spencer Shrader delivered 19.7 points, Javonte Williams added 18.3, Kyren Williams posted 19.8, Garrett Wilson scored 23.7, and Lamar Jackson contributed 20.44. The roster did not merely stumble across the finish line; it assembled a respectable 154.74 and then dared the opposition to catch it.

There was even some evidence of ordinary human error. Juwan Johnson scored 19.3 on the bench, while Josh Downs added 10.2 from the waiting room. But this is the special privilege of the undefeated: a manager can leave 29.5 points idle and still spend Sunday night pretending it was all part of the plan. The League Office has officially classified this as “winning with paperwork outstanding.”

Turd Burglars received a heroic 36.3 from Bijan Robinson and 20.3 from Kenneth Walker, but the rest of the operation never quite achieved escape velocity. Justin Herbert produced 12.74, Malik Nabers scored 5.1, and the Burglars’ 138.74 was good enough to scare the leader without actually robbing the vault.

RelaxingPoo’s team is now 1-2, which is an uncomfortable record for a roster that has scored 432.92 points and is fourth in the league in total points. The Burglars are not being outclassed so much as repeatedly arriving at the scene after the jewelry has been removed. In this case, they were 16 points short of a clean getaway.

Case No. 2: Brockback Mountain vs. Legal Beagels

Brockback Mountain 136.44, Legal Beagels 115.16.

At long last, Brockback Mountain has located the win column. ScubaSteve0222 defeated Legal Beagels by 21.28 points, moving to 1-2 and ending a two-week stretch in which the team appeared to be wandering through the fantasy wilderness with only a compass labeled “Brock Bowers.”

That compass worked. Brock Bowers led the way with 24.6 points, while Christian McCaffrey contributed 20.6, Tee Higgins scored 18, and Dak Prescott added 18.94. Cam Skattebo chipped in 12.5, and the mountain finally looked less like a geological formation and more like an actual football team. Even with De’Von Achane supplying only 1.7 points, Brockback Mountain held together long enough to beat Legal Beagels by more than three touchdowns’ worth of weekly momentum.

The victory also came with a modest bench complaint. Luther Burden scored 16.3 while parked safely away from responsibility. Tony Pollard added 11.6 on the bench. This was not enough to turn the result into a scandal, but it does suggest that Brockback Mountain’s scouting department may be operating a second roster in a concealed cave.

Legal Beagels, meanwhile, returned to their most recognizable tradition: possessing enough talent to create a shadow government and then losing anyway. Patrick Mahomes sat on the bench with 15.94 points. Jordan Addison added 17.5 from the same privileged seating area. Colston Loveland was also held in reserve, though his 5.1 is less likely to inspire a congressional hearing.

The Beagels did get 21.4 from James Cook and 16.4 from Deebo Samuel, but the offense became a legal document with too many exhibits and no closing argument. The team scored 115.16, fell to 1-2, and now sits seventh with 365.14 points for the season. Somewhere, Mahomes is still waiting for his attorney to explain why he was not admitted to the starting lineup.

Case No. 3: Kenbucky Fried Chicken vs. BritishBullies

Kenbucky Fried Chicken 155.88, BritishBullies 105.42.

This was not a matchup. This was a public-service announcement about the dangers of leaving a football team unattended.

Kenbucky Fried Chicken demolished BritishBullies by 50.46 points, the largest margin of Week 3. LilDoubleD’s squad received 32.28 from Brock Purdy, 21.4 from Derrick Henry, 20.3 from Ja’Marr Chase, 19.1 from Christian Watson, and 17.2 from Chris Olave. The Colonel’s kitchen was open, fully staffed, and apparently not subject to health inspection.

After two weeks of the recurring Kenbucky formula—leave points on the bench, sprinkle in defensive concern, and hope the meal is edible—the Colonel served a complete entrée. The defense was not spectacular, Dalton Kincaid managed only 2.8, and several bench players were decorative rather than dangerous. None of that mattered. The starting lineup put 155.88 on the table and BritishBullies could not even find a fork.

BritishBullies scored 105.42 and was beaten so thoroughly that the postgame report has been reduced to a series of redacted pages. The team did receive 19.2 from Davante Adams, 17.9 from Harrison Mevis, and 12.9 from Travis Kelce. Unfortunately, that was surrounded by a starting group that included 3.4 from TreVeyon Henderson, 6.1 from Courtland Sutton, 8.2 from Jonathan Taylor, and 1.8 from the Seattle defense.

Then came the bench. Bo Nix scored 24.14. Terry McLaurin added 16.7. Wan’Dale Robinson posted 15.2. Mike Washington contributed 11.4. That is 67.44 bench points, a number large enough to qualify as a separate offense in several states. BritishBullies did not merely lose. BritishBullies assembled an alternate universe in which the team scored dramatically more, then refused to play in it.

The result leaves BritishBullies at 1-2 despite 388.20 points for the season. The team is sixth in the standings and has become the league’s premier example of a powerhouse trapped inside a losing record. It can set the building on fire and still be listed as a one-win tenant.

Case No. 4: Tony Romo’s Corona vs. Austin Bowers

Tony Romo’s Corona 179.22, Austin Bowers 154.98.

The highest-scoring team of Week 3 was Tony Romo’s Corona, which defeated Austin Bowers by 24.24 points in a game that briefly resembled an offensive arms race before Austin Bowers remembered to leave some ammunition in storage.

Quasifrodo’s team produced 179.22, the week’s top total and the second-highest score in the league through three weeks. Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the operation with 32.36, Drake London added 25.9, Jaylen Warren scored 21.1, and the Minnesota defense delivered 21.4. Zay Flowers, Trey McBride, and Jared Goff also contributed, giving Tony Romo’s Corona the kind of balanced assault usually reserved for teams whose managers have begun giving press conferences.

There was, naturally, a little waste. Matthew Golden scored 20.5 on the bench, while RJ Harvey added 7.7 and DK Metcalf supplied 10.6. Even the league’s highest-scoring manager is apparently capable of leaving a fully operational weapon in the garage. The difference is that Tony Romo’s Corona had enough firepower to win anyway.

Austin Bowers scored 154.98, a total that would have won plenty of other games this week. Jahmyr Gibbs was magnificent with 38.9, George Kittle posted 23.2, Joe Burrow scored 22.58, and Michael Wilson contributed 20.4. That is a strong performance. It is also the sort of performance that makes the loss more irritating, because Austin Bowers was not flattened; it was merely outgunned.

Still, the old lineup malpractice file remains open. Matthew Stafford scored 20.9 on the bench. The Bowers organization continues to treat productive players like protected witnesses: hidden away, unavailable for questioning, and somehow always appearing in the final report after the damage is done. NickSenter97 is 1-2, but the team has 406.52 points and enough talent to make the standings nervous. The question is whether Austin Bowers can stop conducting roster management like a witness-protection program before the season becomes an exhibit.

THE TROPHY CASE

Fantasy God of the Week: Quasifrodo, Tony Romo’s Corona. The week’s highest score belongs to the manager who put up 179.22 and beat a 154.98-point opponent. Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s 32.36 was the headline, but this was a full-team assault. The gods accept sacrifices in the form of bench points, and quasifrodo paid 20.5 of them in Matthew Golden while still leaving the building with a victory.

Managerial Malpractice: BritishBullies. Benching Bo Nix for 24.14, Terry McLaurin for 16.7, Wan’Dale Robinson for 15.2, and Mike Washington for 11.4 is not a lineup decision. It is an organized refusal to cooperate with reality. The bench produced 67.44 points while the starters produced 105.42. The League Office recommends a temporary suspension of all phrases beginning with “I had a feeling.”

Waiver Wire Robbery: Smack my Fannin 🥵 and Spencer Shrader. Csenternkc added Spencer Shrader during Week 3, started him, and received 19.7 points. The undefeated team continues to shop the waiver wire like a man rearranging deck chairs on a yacht that is somehow still winning every race. At this point, the acquisitions are not roster moves. They are victory accessories.

The Crime Scene: Legal Beagels’ bench. Patrick Mahomes and Jordan Addison combined for 33.44 points while sitting harmlessly on the sideline. Legal Beagels scored 115.16 and lost by 21.28. The bench is no longer a bench; it is a witness stand containing testimony the prosecution would like to introduce.

The Golden Dumpster: Austin Bowers. A team that scored 154.98, received 38.9 from Jahmyr Gibbs, and still lost by 24.24 has earned the league’s finest container of mixed emotions. The roster is good. The record is 1-2. The lineup decisions remain under investigation. This is what happens when a Ferrari is driven by a committee.

Week 4 now approaches, carrying the usual promises of redemption, collapse, and one manager confidently starting the wrong player before blaming the moon. Smack my Fannin 🥵 will attempt to preserve the perfect record while the rest of the league plots a constitutional coup. Tony Romo’s Corona has the most points in the league and may now be legally required to act arrogant. BritishBullies will try to discover whether those 67.44 bench points can be transferred by wire. And somewhere in the lower chambers, Legal Beagels, Austin Bowers, Turd Burglars, and Brockback Mountain are preparing their appeals. The League Office has opened the doors. Please keep all lineup decisions away from children.
